By August 2018, Redgate had green-lit our proposal, which included an Eaton 93PS 3/3 UPS, complete with two 20kW power modules, an external open battery stand, a network management card, and a comprehensive suite of services.
However, by January 2023, Redgate's growth necessitated a relocation of its headquarters. They reached out to Secure Power once again, not just for assistance with the UPS relocation, but also to design a more resilient emergency power solution.
Customer Profile
Redgate stands as a beacon in creating compliant database solutions, especially for sectors like finance, healthcare, and technology. Their clientele includes several multinational companies, and they manage hundreds of business-critical servers across multiple continents. Given the scale and critical nature of their operations, uninterrupted support is paramount.
Problem Statement
The challenge was twofold: Redgate needed a seamless transition to their new headquarters without disrupting their ongoing operations. After several coordination meetings with their electrical contractors, it was clear that a flexible, yet robust plan was essential. The primary goal was to ensure minimal disruption during the transition.
Proposed Solution
Understanding the constraints and the need for uninterrupted operations at their existing office, Secure Power proposed supplying a new external bypass switch for the new premises. This would ensure that the current site remained fully operational during the transition phase.
Implementation Process
The process was meticulously planned:
The existing Eaton system was transitioned to an external wraparound bypass and decommissioned.
Specialist couriers facilitated the transfer of the UPS, DC isolation box, and batteries to the new location.
The new bypass and existing DC isolation box were installed at the designated spot on the new premises.
A newly purchased open battery stand was set up, and batteries were configured accordingly.
Post-examination, the Eaton system was commissioned, and the site load was successfully restored to the UPS.
Role of Team Members
COO Nick Morley and Service Manager Lewis Wheelhouse were instrumental in this project. They conducted site visits to both the new and existing premises, offering invaluable advice and recommendations. Post-visit, they crafted a comprehensive plan, ensuring a seamless transition between the two offices.

The manual changeover panel's introduction significantly bolstered their power resiliency, especially during prolonged power outages. Moreover, the new open stand optimised the comms room's footprint, allowing Redgate to repurpose the saved space.
